I’m definitely guilty of posting too many haul videos, then forgetting to share what I think of my purchases.
While I try to do as many dedicated reviews as possible, I thought it would be fun to do a post like this one a few weeks/months after the buzz of a serious shopping spree has worn off. Today, I’ll be chatting about a Superdrug and Revolution Makeup Haul I posted about three months ago, and a few of the pieces I got in my Cheshire Oaks Outlet Haul. The good news is; I liked the majority of products I picked up, so I guess we can call both hauls a success! However, there were a few disappointing items – and honestly, a couple of things I forgot about.

What products did I love?
Honestly, I didn’t expect to like the Eylure Dybrow Kit in Dark Brown* anywhere near as much as I do; but it’s actually life changing. I use this little kit every two weeks, and will definitely repurchase when it runs out. You can watch my first impressions here. I also really like the Collection Colour Lash Mascara in Clear* – though if I’m honest, I don’t have much to say about it. It’s just a clear mascara that I use to set my eyebrows in place, but it’s cheap and does the job.
I’ve been enjoying the cream sculpting products I got from Cheshire Oaks as well. The L’Oréal Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil* (discontinued, but can still be found on Amazon and eBay) has been great to use over the summer to help my lighter foundations match a little better. And I’ve been using NYX Professional Wonder Stick in Light* every time I do my makeup – it’s just so easy to apply and blend out.
Of course, I really loved most of the things I got from Revolution. I must have been experiencing severe emotional distress when I placed my order, because I got three eyeshadow palettes. (Seriously, why am I like this?) But in my defence, I’ve been reaching for two of them pretty regularly. The I Heart Revolution Cherry Chocolate Palette*, and the Revolution Pro Regeneration Palette in Unleashed* are both beautiful and perform really well.
I got some lovely face powders from Revolution as well: their Revolution Pro Skin Finish in Luminescence* (technically a highlighter), and the Revolution Pro Powder Foundation in F2*. The Skin Finish is perfect on top of a matte, full-coverage base when I want to add a bit more glow back into my skin; and the Powder Foundation is better for days when I need a bit more coverage. Oh, and their I Heart Revolution Lip Gloss in Chocolate Brownie* looks and smells divine.
What did I like… but stop reaching for?
While I really liked a lot of the eyeshadow and eyebrow products I picked up, I wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about some of the base products. They’re not bad by any means, I’m just a bit more picky in this area.
I like the Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick in F2*; but I’ve started using the L’Oreal Infallible Shaping Stick Foundation in 100 Ivory* instead as it lasts longer on my skin. I’m a big fan of colour-correctors, and the w7 GO Corrective Concealer in Green* certainly gets the job done, but I feel like the larger colour-correcting palettes from Revolution and NYX are better in terms of performance and value for money.
I don’t reach for the Revolution Ultra 32 Flawless Matte Eye Shadow Palette* very often, but I had a feeling that would be the case when I bought it. I only picked it up to mix with other palettes that lack in decent matte shades. I’ll definitely play with it a bit more later, though.
Finally, what did I hate?
For some reason, I really couldn’t get on with the new Revlon Photoready Candid Anti-Pollution Foundation in 110 Porcelain and 120 Buff*, or the Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Vanilla*. I filmed a review over here, and have been trying to get along with them ever since… but they look like crap every single time. It’s not just the oxidisation, it’s how the products sit on my skin. Maybe they don’t mesh well with my primers or skincare routine? Who knows – but I have plenty of other base products to use instead.
