Sometimes when I’m browsing the shelves in Boots, I stumble across my next drugstore gem entirely by chance… and this time, it’s the Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 630 Velvet Beige*.
Finding a flattering, everyday lipstick has always been a bit of a challenge for me. My lips are very cool-toned, so anything too pink can end up looking a little purple. I don’t like anything too warm, either; because I drink too much Earl Grey tea and have yellow teeth as a result. Oh – and classic, light nude shades are out of the question as well. With my pale skin, they just make me look like a corpse… see my problem?
Velvet Beige is absolutely spot on: it’s a deep, neutral pink-brown, with a serious nineties vibe to it. It’s fairly opaque, but still very creamy and comfortable to wear. It has a slight pearl finish that’s flattering without being too frosty. I find that I can sheer this out or build it up depending on my look, and as it’s such a neutral shade it compliments most of my lip liners and eye looks without any consideration on my part.

Anyway, I think I’ve run out of ways to describe a lipstick (surprised I managed a post this long to be honest) so I’m going to wrap it up here. But if you have similar colouring to me and have been looking for a perfect pink-brown shade, or if you’re just looking for another excuse to go makeup shopping, you should give this a go.
Are there any other nude lipsticks for pale skin you think I should try? Let me know in the comments.
