How to Style Your Christmas Jumper

Christmas jumpers are pretty much mandatory at this time of year.

It doesn’t feel like Christmas until I’m wearing a festive jumper, but let’s face it – they’re not always the most flattering thing for top-heavy frames like mine, and it can be difficult to make them look smarter for family occasions while still having enough room for extra portions of roast potatoes. Here are my favourite ways to style Christmas jumpers:

Option 1: With a midi skirt and ankle boots.

My favourite way to style pretty much any outfit is with a midi-skirt and ankle boots, and Christmas jumpers are no exception. Midi-skirts are flattering on all figures, but I especially love them on my apple-shaped body as they skim over my stomach. My current favourite midi-skirt is the ASOS DESIGN Curve box pleat midi skirt with button front and splits*, in a beautiful burgundy colour that’s perfect for this time of year.

Option 2: With jeans, and optional shirt underneath.

Jeans are a great option if comfort is your main priority – I’m obsessed with the ASOS DESIGN Curve Ridley high waisted skinny jeans in blackened blue wash* that I picked up my recent ASOS Haul. If I wanted to smarten up the look, I’d style it with a white shirt underneath to have the collar peeking out, put on a pair of brogues, and add some classic gold jewellery.

Option 3: Over a dress.

If I wanted to be comfortable but still looked like I’d made a bit of effort (which is my main goal when getting dressed if I’m being honest) I’d throw my Christmas jumper over the top of a cosey dress. I’ve been obsessed with the Wednesday’s Girl Curve long sleeve smock dress in floral* for a few months now and it would look great with an oversized jumper over the top of it.

How do you think you’ll be styling your festive jumpers? Let me know in the comments.
