I Heart Makeup: Death By Chocolate Palette. Review, Looks, & Swatches.

I got the I Heart Makeup: Death By Chocolate Palette, £7.99 and a few other bits from the Makeup Revolution website some time ago, and I can say with some confidence it's definitely the thing I've used the most out of all my purchases.

The colour selection is right up my street, with a range of neutrals, bronze and gold tones, a few browns, and a bit of pink and purple too. Neutral palettes like these are great because they suit everyone, and everyone feels comfortable wearing them, too. It was definitely "inspired" by the £39 Too Faced Chocolate Palette, though the colours remind me of what you'd find in the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.

The packaging is a lot sturdier than your typical budget palette. I've had MUA Palettes for half the price that felt apart after a while, but this seems much stronger. I feel like I could take this on holiday and it would be fine. The chocolate bar design does bulk it up a bit but again, it looks nice. It has a nice big mirror inside, too, and generally looks and feels far more expensive than £7.99.

I'm pleased with pigmentation and quality of the shadows overall - there are two light matte colours which don't show up very well (the shade in the top left corner, White Light, doesn't show up at all) but the two darker matte colours and the majority of the metallics are well pigmented and easy to blend.

You can use this palette for subtle or more dramatic looks. For the one above, I used 'Lick Me' (a light matte pink) all over as a base, then used 'Set Me Free' on top (a shimmery pink-toned silver). Then I added 'One More Bar' on the Crease (a really well pigmented matte brown). I finished the look with a tiny bit of 'Bring Down Angels' (a shimmery white-gold) in the inner corners to highlight.

The second look is the one I wear the most with this palette, using the purple-toned and taupe colours. It's a little darker than the last one but I don't feel like it's "too much". I used 'Break Me Up' (a nice matte taupe) all over the lid as a base and over the crease, with 'Don't Let Go' (the glittery shade next to it, with flecks of gold and bronze) on top of the lid. Then I added 'Consume Me' (shimmery dark brown) on the outer corners.

Overall I think this is a great palette for the price and would highly recommend it, especially for the price. Everyone needs at least one nude eyeshadow palette in their stash and I think this is my favourite... until my next Makeup Revolution haul, obviously.
