Turning 25

Yesterday was my 25th birthday. I saw my friends over the weekend and had a serious shopping spree with my BFF (haul coming this Friday, folks), ate a lot of junk food, and even filmed a video. Basically, it was the perfect birthday weekend.

For a while I was beating myself up about still living with my parents at this age, and about not travelling as much as I thought I would have done - but I have to remind myself that since I turned 24, I've done a lot. I completed a Master's Degree with a Distinction, started a Youtube channel, left my job in retail and registered as self-employed. Currently I'm working on turning our unused attic into a studio so I can photograph clients here. Not only that, but I'm a lot happier (probably something to do with having finished said Master's Degree), and I have a much better idea of what I actually want to do career-wise and the steps I can take to get there after years of not having a clue.

I think the biggest change is that I'm much more confident in myself and I genuinely trust my instincts now. This is rather strange after years of putting other people's feelings before mine, but as selfish as it sounds I do feel happier this way. Since my 21st I've had a slightly narcissistic tradition of visiting a photobooth every year on or around my birthday, I'm not entirely sure why I do it but I think I'll like looking back on them when I'm a bit older. I think in this year's I look a little more confident, a little more comfortable in my own skin.

I've been thinking a lot about what I hope I've achieved by my 26th birthday, and made a little bucket list.
  1. Continue working on this blog/my channel, because I love doing this.
  2. Travel more (even if all I can afford is a day-trip somewhere in the UK).
  3. Make my social life and happiness an equal priority to working (something I've always struggled with).
Hope you guys had a great weekend xx
